## What an IP address lookup tells you

A public IPv4 or IPv6 lookup can show the registered network operator, ASN, country, region and time zone. These are network details, and a result does not identify the person using the address.

Enter only an IP address, without a URL, port or network prefix. Private, loopback and reserved addresses are classified locally because they have no ordinary public geolocation.

Can I find an exact street address from an IP?+

The location shown here is approximate. Mobile gateways, VPN exits and network registration can all place an address away from the person using it.

Can I look up an IPv6 address?+

Yes. Paste the complete IPv6 address, such as 2606:4700:4700::1111. The tool normalizes valid IPv6 notation and checks whether the address is public before requesting network details.
